12 Easy Steps to Always find Cheap Flights

✈ In case you weren’t aware, airport transportation is the bulk of the services we provide! Over the years our drivers have spoken with countless clients that travel regularly. We consulted with them to get their secrets for you and we have compiled a 12 point guide to finding cheap flights to anywhere in the world!

  1. Ignore the myths – Airfare is not cheaper on Tuesdays or using the incognito browser. Airlines use complex algorithms based on time of year, demand, weather, events, competition pricing etc.
  2. Be Flexible with Dates and Times – Try to fly to your destination off season. It’s also cheaper to fly during the middle of the week than on a weekend. Shifting your travel days by even one day could save you hundreds of dollars.
  3. Be Flexible with Destinations – Google Flights has an amazing tool for this. Simply put in your dates and your home airport and the website will give you worldwide options. There is always a deal to some destination. If you are flexible on where you want to go, you will always get a deal.
  4. Fly Budget Carriers – Instead of flying with the major airlines, try one of the budget airlines that often times fly very similar routes. Allegiant Air, Frontier, Spirit and Sun Country are some of the budget carriers that fly domestically. You do get fewer perks than the major airlines, but can save money. Be care of fees though, they will try to nickle and dime you with seat selections, checked bag fees, boarding passes etc.
  5. Don’t Fly Direct – It may be cheaper to fly to London and take a budget airline to Paris than to fly directly to Paris. It may mean more time flying, but you will save money.
  6. Not all Search Engines are Equal – Some of the search engines don’t include budget airlines. Some of the best to try are Momondo, Google Flights and Skyscanner.
  7. Mix and Match Airlines – Booking with different airlines will allow you to find the best deal for each leg of your journey.
  8. Use Airline Miles and Points – A lot of the airlines offer rewards points that can be redeemed for free flights and upgrades. Some credit cards offer airlines miles for money you spend on regular purchases.
  9. Special Deals – Websites like Airfarewatchdog.com and ScottsCheapFlights.com let you sign up for their newsletter and be updated with last minute or special deals. They will send them directly to your email.
  10. Search Prices as One Person – If you are buying tickets for a family of 3 for example, the airlines will find 3 seats that are together and show the fare as the highest ticket price. So if seat 1 is $200, seat 2 is $300 and seat 3 is $400, the airlines will price all 3 seats at $400 instead of the individual costs. Book individually and afterwards you can pick the seats so they are together.
  11. Book Early (But Not Too Early) – Prices will rise as you get closer to the departure date. The best time to book your flight is around 6-8 weeks before your departure.
  12. Last but not least 😉 ….Remember to keep up-to-date on Apollo’s Chariots blog and Facebook for travel deals we may find!!!
